Enrolled bills, 1867-1871.

These are transcripts of acts and resolutions passed by the General Assembly; signed by representatives of the Senate and the House of Representatives; and approved, dated and signed into law by Governor John W. Stevenson. These typically concern the structure of the educational system; the navigation of Kentucky's waterways; the construction or maintenance of roads; the incorporation of towns, businesses, and organizations; the formation of election districts; the determination of county boundaries; and appropriations for state funding. Also included is the March 1868 resolution protesting the refusal of the United States Congress to seat the Kentucky delegation because of supposed Confederate sympathies.

John White Stevenson succeeded to the office of governor in September 1867, upon the death of newly-elected Governor John L. Helm. A Democrat, he served until a few months prior to the end of the term, when he resigned to take a seat in the United States Senate. Stevenson was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1812.
